Got my subframe back from the sandblaster today

Unfortunately it’s not a case of just throwing some paint on it.

I probably will end up refabricating the spring-tower bracing since it’s in so bad shape Bushing mount will also require some work from the look of it.

Also what’s up with these factory weld?! Looks like they were made by a 5-year old or something! As we’ve said before, quality-control must have been absolutely non-existant back in the 70's.

Gotta love those crappy factory welds.

They make reinforcement/replacement plates for the bushing mounts! I also am in need of some. I think my spring pockets are okay, the PO of my car coated the front 75% of the subframe so it LOOKS like new...

But why did he stop at 75%??

Currentplan is to just find a big washer and weld it into place since it’s only 1 out of 4 mounts that’s bad.

Makes sense. Those subframe mounts don’t mess around! Luckily mine came loose after I introduced them to my impact gun (stupid move in retrospect, but hey it worked!)
